Welcome to Gifts of Love for Young People C.I.C
About Us
Founded in 2024, 'Gifts of Love for Young People' emerged in response to a pressing need to support youth with daily essentials.
Monica’s journey began in schools, where I identified numerous vulnerable students from financially struggling families. She started by providing small but meaningful tokens of support, such as learning materials, revision cards, food vouchers, and school equipment. Monica is a safeguarding support officer and has been a youth worker in the community.
Patsy's journey began in 2003 when she was a childminder, as well as a foster carer and later an outreach worker in the children's centre. Patsy has worked with over a 10,000 families over a career span of three decades and has been a Participation Officer in Waltham Forest and a Nursery Manager in both Redbridge and Waltham Forest.
During the pandemic, we united to address the escalating health crisis, focusing on ensuring that families had food on the table. We began offering hot, cooked meals to the elderly and vulnerable families in our local community, helping them navigate the cold winter months.
Recognising that hygiene was becoming a significant concern, we are providing essential items to young people and their families, spanning multiple generations.
Who we are
It has been disheartening to observe that students from lower economic backgrounds often lack access to essential toiletries, a disparity that significantly impacts the well-being of our young people. The ability to afford basic necessities and resources should be every child's right.
In our ongoing efforts to support students facing these challenges, we have been providing toiletries, vouchers, and other items on a case-by-case basis. Through these initiatives, we've realized the widespread nature of this issue, impacting students across the country.
The discretion exercised in gifting is crucial, as we recognize the sensitivity and privacy surrounding this matter. Our aim is to collaborate with schools and colleges, working towards addressing these disparities and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.
What we do?
We are a non-profit organisation that has seen the negative impact of the lack of access to toiletries and extracurricular support on our young people. Our mission is to distribute free toiletries to young people who do not have access to these items but also fall between the gaps of low attainment and privilege and are frequently overlooked or disadvantaged within our community. This includes working with young parents to improve their quality of life.
